                                                                                                                                                               Naples Fort Myers FAQ

Question:  Housing is $90 per week, what is included?

A:  Your apartment rent , your electricity, your water, sewage, trash , cable and telephone.  Your furniture is also rented and paid for from your housing payment.  The cost of setting this up for you is part of your Administration fee.

Q:  Can I change housing?

A:  As long as you are in the program you must remain in the housing provided.  Leaving the housing equals leaving the program.

Q:  I have a job offer from another company, their housing costs less, why?

A:.  We, unlike some other employers maintain housing in more comfortable and not in crowded conditions.  Many other employers put 3-4 people in a room to save money.  It is uncomfortable, unsafe and in most cases not legal.  We would be happy if you could pay less for housing, but it is just not possible.

Q: There are only 2 people in another apartment and there are 4 in ours, but we pay the same rent- why?

A:  Housing cost is actually spread evenly among all participants, the owners of the housing charge only for the housing and do not charge less when there are less people in the house/apartment.  When the apartment is empty, the contract requires us to pay for it until the lease is finished.  We lease the apartments for you.  To try to keep this as fair as possible, as people arrive and depart, if you are the only one in your apartment you will still pay the same rate.

Q: Is The town where we are working dangerous?

A: No more than any other cities of their size, and probably less.  Just use the same precautions you would use any other time.  Lock your doors, do not open them for strangers.  Do not assume because a person speaks your native language that he/she is your friend.  Be careful letting people you do not know in your apartment and do not let people know you have any valuables in your apartment.  Laptops are the number one theft item.  Always keep yours secure.

Q:  I have friends I want to live with, can I?

A: It is possible.  But we cannot promise.  You need to arrive with your friends at the same time. We limit occupancy based on apartment size and local laws.

Q: Are hours guaranteed?

A: No.  The hours you work are affected the most by your attitude and willingness to work.  If you work your schedule as provided, you could get as much as 35-40 hours a week.  If you do not work your schedule as provided you can receive significantly less hours.  It is really more up to you to receive hours.  If you tell your manager you cannot work at anytime, it is not the responsibility of Publix to give you more hours.  The average work week last year was just above 32 hours a week.

Q: Which store will I work in?

A:  Due to the fact that we do not assign stores until we know that you are actually here, we cannot tell you.

Q:  How far from my housing to the store?

A:  We cannot answer that until you are in housing and your store is assigned.

Q:  What is my exact job?

A:  That will be determined by your manager after you are assigned to a store.

Q:  I was told that I needed to open a bank account at Wachovia, or Bank of America, why is this?

A:  SAGE works with Wachovia and Bank of America so you can have a free account with a debit card.  Instead of keeping your cash in your apartment you can have full access to your money through this card.  Also, Wachovia and Bank of America work with us, so we can deposit your refund from your housing deposit directly to your account.  You will have it almost immediately, and no problem to cash a check in your home country.

Q:  Is there Internet access at the apartments?

A:  Sage does provide Internet to some apartments, we do not guarantee internet service however.   Some apartment complexes have an area where you can access the net near the office  or swimming pool.
